Medicaid Disaster in the Making: Don’t Let Your Facility Get Caught Off Guard
Medicaid Disaster in the Making: Don’t Let Your Facility Get Caught Off Guard

Hey everybody, Pascal here with ALF Boss. I wanted to take a moment to address a significant issue that many facilities accepting Medicaid payments through long-term care are facing: the expiration of Medicaid numbers due to missed renewals.

The problem often arises because facilities don’t receive the renewal notification. Maybe it was sent to an old address or an outdated email, but regardless of the reason, the result is the same—if you don’t renew your Medicaid number on time, it gets canceled. And trust me, that’s a headache you don’t want. When your number is canceled, not only do you lose future payments, but Medicaid plans can also demand repayment for funds you’ve already received.

To help you avoid this, I’m going to show you how to check if your Medicaid number is up for renewal and what steps you need to take to ensure everything stays active.

Step 1: Log into Your FLMMIS Portal

First, head over to the FLMMIS portal: FLMMIS Portal Login. Once you’re signed in, navigate to the Florida web portal. Don’t worry if they ask you to enter a code; just follow the prompts.

Step 2: View Your Welcome Letter

On the right-hand side of the portal, you’ll see an option to view the original welcome letter. Click on it and download the letter. This document contains the effective dates of your enrollment. For example, you might see dates like January 18, 2022, to January 17, 2025. This tells you that your Medicaid number will expire on January 17, 2025.

Step 3: Submit Your Renewal Application

If your Medicaid number is nearing its expiration date, it’s crucial to submit your renewal application as soon as possible. I know applications can be a pain, but if you need assistance, we can handle that for you at a very minimal charge. Just reach out, and we’ll take care of the rest.

Why This Matters

If your Medicaid number is canceled, Medicaid plans will stop paying you, and worse, they might demand repayment for any money they’ve already disbursed. Don’t let this happen to you—check your numbers regularly and renew them on time.
