Renewal of License

Renewing your operating license is a yearly process for Adult Residential Care Providers in the state of Louisiana that requires great attention to detail to ensure the continuation of your ability to care for seniors. Check out the following regulation as to what is required when submitting for renewal of your license through the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals:

  • 6815. Renewal of License
  1. License Renewal Application. The ARCP shall submit a completed license renewal application packet to the department at least 30 days prior to the expiration of the existing current license. The license renewal application packet shall include:
  2. the license renewal application;
  3. the days and hours of operation;
  4. a current fire marshal inspection report;
  5. a current OPH inspection report;
  6. the non-refundable license renewal fee;
  7. proof of financial viability to include: a. verification and maintenance of a letter of credit issued from a federally insured, licensed lending institution in the amount of at least $100,000 or the cost of three months of operation, whichever is less; or
  8. affidavit of verification of sufficient assets equal to $100,000 or the cost of three months of operation, whichever is less;
  9. general and professional liability insurance of at least $300,000;
  10. proof of worker’s compensation insurance; and 9. any other documentation required by the department.
  11. The department may perform an on-site survey and inspection upon the annual renewal of a license.
  12. Failure to submit to the department a completed license renewal application packet prior to the expiration of Title 48, Part I 445 Louisiana Administrative Code August 2018 the current license will be considered a voluntary non-re-newal of the license, and the license shall expire on its face.

Pro Tip:

  1. The department may perform an on-site survey and inspection upon the annual renewal of a license.

While it is not certain that you will face an on-site inspection, you need to continue to prepare as if a surveyor will be heading to your facility yearly. You do not want to get caught empty-handed or with information that does not match what you send to the Department of Health and Hospitals.
